Are you planning for a career in international business? Preparing for future graduate study abroad? Or would you like to better communicate with people around the world? Then consider coming to UCLA this summer for an intensive English language experience. UCLA is a recognized leader in the field of English language training for non-native speakers.

ESL 97A, Section 1:
Listening and Culture through Film: ESL at the Oscars
Watch five films nominated for Academy Awards to improve your listening comprehension,
your idiomatic use of spoken English and your understanding of American culture. After a
thorough review of the Oscar nominees, you’ll have the opportunity to analyze a film of your
choosing. This intensive listening and speaking practice will allow you to immerse yourself in
the English language.
ESL 97A, section 2 and 6:
Business Communication
Learn to speak confidently in business situations while improving your fluency and pronunciation.
Through hands-on practice, you'll gain skill at giving presentations, fielding questions, leading
discussions, and running an effective business meeting. Videotaping allows you and your
instructor to review your performance as a means of improvement. This course is recommended
for international students taking either Management 88, Leading and Succeeding in
Organizations or Management 188, Leadership Principles and Practice.
ESL 97A, section 3, 4, 7:
Preparation for Graduate School in the US
Worried about the application process for grad school in the U.S.? This course will give you
the skills necessary to apply to grad school and to be successful in the classroom. You will learn
how to research programs in your field, fill out an application, and write a personal statement.
You'll also work on high-level linguistic skills such as academic reading, comprehension,
vocabulary, and discussion.
ESL 97A, section 5:
Exploring Los Angeles
In this course, you can improve your language skills and increase your cultural knowledge by
focusing on the city of Los Angeles. The program includes readings, class discussions, and
periodic site visits that explore the history, literature, and development of this multicultural city.
The class focused on the Culture of Los Angeles can be offered in C if you have 12 students. The 97A course focused on the Academy Award Winning films, can be offered in Sessions C if you have 8 students who are interested.
费用:
Registration and tuition for a 4-unit class: $1048, for two classes (8 units), the cost would be $1896. The cost of 6-week housing varies depending on the type of room and meal plan. This webpage has this year’s rates, room styles, and meal plans: http://www.summer.ucla.edu/Housing/fees.htm
For example, If they take one class and stay in a double room in the Residence Halls w/ 2 meals per day, the cost will be: $2899. If the students stay in triple rooms, the cost will be: $2499.(含不含medical insurance待定,肯定不含来回机票)
