• 1986年毕业于华东师范大学计算机科学系，获工学硕士学位。1986年进入上海交通大学计算机科学与工程系工作。现任计算机科学与工程系教授、博士生导师，享受国务院特殊津贴。曾荣获全国师德标兵、包钢教育基金——优秀教师特等奖、上海市五一劳动奖章、上海市教学名师、上海市高等院校优秀青年教师、上海市育才奖和首届上海交通大学校长奖等荣誉。
   
• 目前研究方向是Web搜索及挖掘、语义搜索、P2P搜索、语义Web、本体工程(Ontology Engineering)和无线应用。现主持的项目列于此页面，曾主持的项目列于此页面。
   
• 在教学方面，曾主讲本科生的"人机接口与图形学"和硕士研究生的"分布对象计算"和"新一代Web基础设施"等课程。曾主持教育部世界银行贷款项目《以培养创新人才为目标的计算机科学与技术专业教学改革的研究与实践》，曾荣获国家级教学成果二等奖、上海市教学成果一等奖和上海市优秀教材三等奖。
   
• 在ACM国际大学生程序设计竞赛方面，曾多次带队在亚洲区预赛中取得第一、二名闯入决赛，在2000年的决赛中名列第七，获得铜牌。在2002年的决赛中，一举夺魁，捧回世界冠军杯，这是亚洲历史上第一次获得该项赛事的前三名和冠军。在2005年的决赛中，又一次率队夺得世界冠军，成为全球第5个两次夺冠的高校。
